Instead of competing with ChatGPT, Apple Intelligence offers some functionality on the iPhone while allowing the user to request ChatGPT directly from the Siri interface and typing tools built into the iPhone, iPad, and Mac. And earlier Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman predicted that a new collaboration between Apple and Google could be announced this fall. However, he now believes that the integration between Apple Intelligence and Gemini should be formalized next year. In his latest newsletter, the journalist explains that Apple could give OpenAI a window of exclusivity before announcing the availability of other AI models. In any case, Google did not wait for this possible collaboration with Apple Intelligence to strengthen the presence of its Gemini chatbot on the iPhone. As a reminder, Gemini has been available on iOS for some time via a tab in the Google app. But recently also Google launched the application completely dedicated to Gemini in the App Store. In addition to the Gemini features already offered through the Google app, this new app also allows access to Gemini Live on the iPhone.
Gemini Live is one of the most interesting features of Gemini because, like ChatGPT’s advanced voice mode, it allows you to chat with the AI in a smooth and natural way, as if you were talking to a human being. Alternatively, the Gemini iPhone app could also serve as an alternative for anyone who doesn’t have access to Apple Intelligence on their iPhones.
