There are five of them, five young men from the United States (4 of them) and the United Kingdom, ranging in age from 20 to 25 years old. Noah Urban, Ahmed Elbadawy, Joel Evans, Evans Osiebo and Tyler Buchanan have all been charged by the US justice system, which suspects them of belonging to the Scattered Spider hacking group – the group that hacked MGM Resorts.
Scattered Spider is also suspected of working as an affiliate of BlackCat (a group that uses ransomware BlackCat and in return will pay part of the extorted ransom). It is not known whether the five accused members represent the entire Scattered Spider group, which some experts say is itself suspected of being part of a larger hacking network called “The Community” or “The
Com”.
