What are the criteria for buying a smartphone for less than 400 euros?
When we compare smartphones or any other product, we consider the entire spec sheet. However, not all criteria are of equal importance depending on the product category or price range. We will explain why we kept some criteria and not others.
- Screen: The quality of the screen is very important, especially since it can be very diverse for models costing less than 300 euros. At this price we still find LCD panels and not Amoled and a refresh rate of 60 Hz and not 120 Hz.
- Memory: Here we are mainly interested in the possibility of expanding the storage using a microSD card. Almost all high-end smartphones have abandoned this option for a very long time. But there are still models in the middle class that offer this option.
- Photo module: It’s hard to find a very good camera phone for less than 300 euros. The vast majority of models are similar to each other. Instead, focus on the versatility of your shots. Opt for the largest sensors (in inches, not megapixels), look for photo modules with different optics (wide-angle, ultra-wide).
- Battery and charging: In general, mid-range smartphones have large batteries. There will be a difference in charging speed. However, you probably won’t get wireless charging.
- Connectivity: Make sure your model offers NFC. This is an important feature regardless of the price range. But it will most likely be omitted in the segment with a price below 300 euros.
