Contrary to initial expectations of a direct competitor to Apple’s Vision Pro, Samsung seems to be aiming for a product closer to Ray-Ban’s Meta. The autonomy and weight, which are relatively comparable to the latter, is a safe bet that this is not a device equipped with a screen. Moreover, the project could already be seen example of the Astra project from Google on the occasion of I/O 2024where unidentified smart glasses were used to interact with Gemini via voice commands, like the recent OpenAI demos with GPT-4o.
The official presentation of these Samsung connected glasses powered by Gemini AI could take place as early as next January, more precisely as part of the Galaxy Unpacked event. However, its launch would be scheduled for summer 2025, in line with the launch strategy adopted for Galaxy ring a few months earlier.
At the moment, although Samsung has not officially confirmed the integration of Gemini into its connected glasses, various clues indicate that this collaboration with the Mountain View giant is quite possible.
