The main mistake of social networks is to enclose us in a bubble. When you view content, an algorithm analyzes it to offer you similar content that is more likely to interest you. You stay in the app longer, which increases the revenue generated by the platforms. Very good news, Instagram is deploying a simple tool completely reset your recommendationsboth in the main channel and in the Explore tab or reels.

This feature allows you to find an Instagram experience closer to the one you have when you have just starting to use your account. Meta explains that it was developed mainly for teenagers who would like to start fresh with the app, but all users will have access to it.

Instagram lets you out of your bubble

“Recommendations will begin to re-adapt over time, showing new content based on the content and accounts you interact with.”clarifies Instagram. You will therefore need to reset your recommendations regularly so that you don’t quickly find yourself with the same content being offered over and over again.

To take my personal case, I use Instagram very little. My girlfriend often sends me Bubu and Dudu videos, the app offers me almost only Bubu and Dudu content. With this option, I can hope to start anew on Instagram. But I’ll have to force myself to look at photos and videos of subjects I like and work with them so I don’t get attacked by two cubs again quickly.

The feature is still being tested, but should be available to all users soon. When you have access to it, you can go to Instagram settings, go down to the menu What can be seenand then press Suggested content. After that, there will be a new option to reset the recommendation. We remind you that you can limit the display of sensitive or political content in the same place.
