What is Black Rose in League of Legends?

In this second seasonArcanawe hear of “The Black Rose” for the first time. However, fans League of Legends already knows this group. It is an ancient and influential organization, deeply rooted in the history of Noxus (another region of Runeterra). It was created long before the arrival of this realm and pursues mysterious goals, combining power, magic and manipulation. Her existence is mentioned in the biographies of many LoL champions, such as LeBlanc, Vladimir, Élise, and Cassiopeia.

In particular, we learn that LeBlanc has been at the head of the Black Rose since the days of Darkin (a distant time when the war between the immortals raged). As for Vladimir, another prominent member of the organization, he learned hemomania through this society and became an immortal and terrifying being.

Two LoL champions hidden in Arcane

Season 2Arcana also offered two notable champion nods to well-known players. Starting in episode 3, an imposing statue of Janna, Mistress of the Winds, appears in the shrine in Zaun. A symbol of hope for slum dwellers, Janna is described as a protective elemental spirit. It is staged as Jin mocks her, emphasizing her cynicism, but also her despair and her hatred of the world around her.

Orianna makes a more prominent appearance again in episode 5. We find that the young girl has fallen into a coma, locked in a box, while Singed desperately tries to save her. This plot is directly connected to the history of the character in League of Legends. After being exposed to toxic products, Orianna was turned into a “mechanical lady” by her father, Corin Reveck, using artificial organs. Orianna could come back to life in this form and add a poignant and dark dimension to the plot, which would be all the more relevant with the presence of Singed…

Who is the Singed we see at the end of each episode?

Singed, this mad scientist with a scarred face, also well known to players, is the central antagonist in League of Legends. His extreme experiments on humans and animals earned him a reputation as a ruthless monster. IN Arcanaits role is expanding and becoming more complex. Every episode of Season 2 ends with a scene with him: watching wolves, working in his lab, or manipulating a strange machine.

Sound clues like the music box he’s holding seem to confirm a popular theory: Singed is actually Corin Reveck, Orianna’s father. His obsessive quest to save his daughter could explain his experiments on the Shimmer and Warwick’s creation, the Wolfman. This unnatural fusion of man and beast, seen in episode 3, highlights the moral boundaries he is willing to cross.

Although players may have a head start on several plot elements, Arcana has many surprises in store for us. See you on November 23rd on Netflix for the third and final actArcana.
